inXile Entertainment’s Clockwork Revolution Releasing Next Year
Xbox Game Studios and inXile Entertainment announced that first-person steampunk RPG Clockwork Revolution will release on PC and Xbox Series X|S in 2027. The announcements comes alongside a new four-minute trailer introducing the game’s setting and various gameplay elements.
Clockwork Revolution is set in the steam-powered metropolis of Avalon where technology has allowed it to develop overhead steam trains, clockwork artificial limbs, and mechanical servants. Players control fully customisable protagonist Morgan Vanette, a member of the Rotten Row Hooligans. They are joined by partner Prentice, a flying automaton who links them to the Chronometer, a device that lets them travel through time and create new branching realities. The game puts players in conflict with Lady Ironwood, who has used a secret time-travel device to change key parts of Avalon’s history herself and will fight against the player to keep control.
In addition to travelling through time for the story, the Chronometer can also be used in combat and exploration, including a Displace power that lets players instantly reposition certain objects to potentially open paths, solve puzzles, or launch an explosive barrel at enemies. Players will also interact with various characters — such as fellow hooligans Ulysses, Nazim, Erasmus, Hazel, and Anne — who lives can be upended by the player’s time-travelling choices.
