Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World Announced

As part of its developer update marking the 40th anniversary for Dragon Quest, Square Enix announced a new title in the Dragon Quest Monsters spin-off series. Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. A release window has not yet been announced.

Rather than directly fighting in combat, the player characters relies on allied monsters that they have captured, bred, and raised to battle. No details about the story or gameplay for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World has been revealed, other than it will star Bianca and Nera from Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride.

Update — Series creator Yuji Horii also confirmed that Debora, who first appeared in the Nintendo DS version of Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, will also appear in the game.
