G-MODE Archives+ Xenosaga: Pied Piper, Namco Chronicle Coming to PC, Switch
Publisher G-MODE announced that it is releasing Namco’s 2004 mobile title Xenosaga: Pied Piper and 2009 mobile title Namco Chronicle on PC and Nintendo Switch under its G-MODE Archives+ label. The Nintendo Switch versions of the games will only be available in Japan, while the PC versions will be available on Steam (Xenosaga: Pied Piper, Namco Chronicle) internationally, but will only have Japanese language support.
Xenosaga: Pied Piper is a spin-off prequel to Monolith Soft’s Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht. Set a century earlier than Episode I and written by series creators Tetsuya Takahashi and Soraya Saga, the game follows Ziggy as he serves in the Federal Police under the name Jan Sauer and attempts to stop a brutal killer codenamed Voyager. The game features turn-based battles, with its narrative told through a combination of conversations and cinematic cutscenes.
Namco Chronicle is a crossover strategy RPG featuring characters from multiple Namco properties. The game takes place across three parts — Fantasy, City, and Space — with players obtaining new party members and allies throughout the game. It features over twenty characters including Valkyrie from The Adventure of Valkyrie, Gil and Ki from The Tower of Druaga, and Momo from Wonder Momo.
In addition, G-MODE has released G-MODE Archives+ Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner: A’s TEST Server on PC and Nintendo Switch. Like Xenosaga: Pied Piper, the game is available only in Japan on Nintendo Switch and only in Japanese on Steam, though the latter version is available internationally for $15.99 with a 10% launch discount. The game is a 2006 mobile title released by Atlus that acts as a side story to the Digital Devil Saga spin-off series to Shin Megami Tensei. It follows protagonist Serph after he wakes up in the Tower of Karma with no memories and sees players advancing through procedurally-generated floors with participating in party-based combat that makes use of the turn-based Press Turn Battle system.
