New Release Round-Up (December 5, 2024)
Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released in the last week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.
Caves of Qud
Caves of Qud is billed as a science fantasy RPG with deep simulation aspects. Players create their own character with over seventy mutations and dozens of cybernetic implants available allowing players to fly, teleport, hypnotise goats, swap bodies with a robot, and more. The game includes over seventy factions, while all monsters and NPCs are fully simulated with their own levels, skills, equipment, faction allegiances, and body parts. It includes the Classic roguelike mode as well as friendlier Roleplay and Wander modes. The game had been in Early Access since 2015.
Cricket: Jae’s Really Peculiar Game

Turn-based RPG Cricket: Jae’s Really Peculiar Game follows titular protagonist Jae as he journeys with his friends to fix a past tragedy by finding the fabled land of Yimmelia on the moon, which is rumored to grant any wish. The game features a mixture of locations from forests and cities to rock concerts. Combat utilises timed hits and character combo attacks, with no random encounters. Players can also interact with the world, including dashing into NPCs, but such actions may have consequences.
Crystar

Action RPG Crystar is themed around the afterlife. The game follows Rei Hatada, a young girl who supposedly kills her younger sister Mirai after being drawn into Purgatory. Those looking to read more about Crystar can check out RPGamer’s review of the PlayStation 4 version.
Fantasian Neo Dimension

Fantasian Neo Dimension is an enhanced version of 2021 Apple Arcade title Fantasian, which was originally released in two parts. Taking place in a multi-dimensional universe, it begins in a world ruled by machines and follows Leo, a young man who wakes up after a giant explosion in a strange land with only a single memory. Combat is turn-based and includes directional-based spells that players can aim and curve, while the graphics make use of 150+ dioramas created by Japan’s tokusatsu/special effects industry. Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium

A sequel to mobile title Girls’ Frontline, which released internationally in 2018, Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium sees players commanding android personifications of real-world weapons, known as T-Dolls. Players control them as they fight on battlefields with different terrain and cover options. Outside of combat, players can interact with the T-Dolls as well as participate in mini-games and switch combat suits.
The Edge of Allegoria

The Edge of Allegoria sees players assuming the role of a midlife individual who sets out on a perilous journey to uncover the secrets of the magical world of Allegoria. The game features turn-based combat, Game Boy-inspired visuals, and mature and tongue-in-cheek humour. It includes almost 150 monster types, over 40 boss fights, and over 30 dungeons for players to take on, with almost 100 different weapons for players to use, each with their own unique skills that can mastered.
The Thaumaturge

Dark fantasy RPG The Thaumaturge is set in an alternate version of 1905 Warsaw, following its recent annexation by the Russian Empire. Its setting features supernatural beings called Salutors that exist in the cracks of the real world. These Salutors can only be fully perceived by Thaumaturges, people who use their unique abilities and see deep into the psyches of humans.
