Monster Hunter Wilds Gets February Date
Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Wilds will release on February 28, 2025. The game will release for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S with pre-orders available now. In addition to the $69.99 Standard Edition, there are also $89.99 Deluxe and $109.99 Premium Deluxe Editions for all platforms. The Deluxe Edition includes the game plus various bits of cosmetic DLC, while the Premium Deluxe Edition includes the Deluxe Edition plus access to two future packs of cosmetic DLC. All pre-orders will receive the bonus “Guild Knight Set” hunter layered armor and “Hope Charm” talisman.
In addition to the release date, Capcom released a new trailer, new screenshots, and new details for the game, beginning with its flagship monster. Arkveld is from a species long thought to be extinct and has chain-like wings. It is connected to the “White Wraith”, a mysterious monster who attacked the home of young boy Nata, who is rescued by the Hunter’s Guild. In response, the Hunter’s Guild establishes the Forbidden Lands Research Commission to investigate the creature and explore the Forbidden Lands.
The media also highlights the environmental changes of the Scarlet Forest as it goes between Fallow, Inclemency, and Plenty periods. Fallow features the red-tinted rivers that give the forest its name, while Inclemency causes downpours that see water levels surging and the rivers gaining raging currents. Plenty sees the storms break leading to clear waters and a colourful ecosystem of monsters and plants, the sun breaking through the vegetation. This gives players the opportunity to enjoy fishing and exploration. Players may also encounter a local tribe of Lynians, known as Wudwuds, who have adapted to the region.
Also introduced is the Scarlet Forest’s apex leviathan predator, Uth Duna. Appearing during the Inclemency period, Uth Duna can cloak itself in a veil of water secreted from its body. Meanwhile, Quematrice is a new Brute Wyvern that lives in the Windward Plains. It sprays a flamable substance, which it ignites using sparks created when it drags its tail.
