Fate/EXTRA Record Platforms and Publisher Revealed
Developer Type-Moon announced that it is partnering with Bandai Namco to release its upcoming RPG Fate/EXTRA Record, which is a remake of PlayStation Portable title Fate/EXTRA. The company also revealed the game is being developed for PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, with a 2025 release window in Japan. A western release has not yet been confirmed.
The original Fate/EXTRA is a turn-based RPG and spin-off to the Fate/stay night visual novel and its assorted titles. It received two sequels, Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star and Fate/Extella Link, which utilise action combat. Its remake is billed as featuring an expanded scenario, improved graphics, and a deck-building system.
Fate/EXTRA Record takes place in a virtual world called “SE.RA.PH.”, which is generated by supercomputers located on the moon. It sees 128 of the world’s best hackers battle to obtain the Holy Grail, an artifact capable to grant its owner’s wishes. In this deadly competition to death known as the Holy Grail War, the participants are aided by Servants, which are souls of legendary heroes or eminent figures from history. The player will assume the role of an amnesiac participant and choose the Servant to contract with at the start of their adventure.
