Gothic Remake Collector’s Edition Announced

Publisher THQ Nordic has announced a Collector’s Edition for Alkimia Interactive’s Gothic 1 Remake. This edition of the action RPG will include a leather wristband and notebook, a Sleeper mask with a wall bracket, the original soundtrack, and the base game. The Collector’s Edition (€199.99 / $199.99 / £169.99) is currently available for pre-order via the THQ Nordic EU Store, with additional pre-order options on the Gothic Remake official website. The game is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with no release window announced as of this writing. The original game was developed by Piranha Bytes and released for PC in 2001, with a Nintendo Switch port for the first two Gothic games being released in 2023.

The game is set in the Kingdom of Myrtana, where prisoners are sent to the Khorinis mines by King Rhobar II to gather magical ore for forging powerful weapons during an orc invasion. However, things go awry when the magic barrier containing the prisoners goes out of control, transforming the mines into a dangerous territory ruled by multiple factions. With the King forced into negotiations and tensions running high among these newly formed factions, a nameless hero arrives, changing the fate of all involved. Gothic 1 Remake will feature a modernized version of the original combat system and will allow players to revisit the colony, unraveling its secrets.

I have been gaming since I received the Sega Master System as a young child, which was the first console I ever owned (Yes, I am that old). The game that got me into RPGs was Final Fantasy VIII, a game that I still adore to this day. My favorite RPG of all time, however, is Shadow Hearts on the PS2.
