Paradox Interactive Publishing Escape the Mad Empire

Publisher Paradox Interactive announced a partnership with developer XperimentalZ Games to publish Escape the Mad Empire under its Paradox Arc initiative. This announcement came accompanied with a minute-long trailer showcasing the gameplay of the upcoming dungeon crawler. The game will launch in Early Access this year for PC (via Steam). A demo version is currently available on Steam.

Escape the Mad Empire is billed as a mixture of roguelike, party-based RPG, base-building, and action RPG. It is set following the fall of an underground empire that mined and used powerful crystals to create abominations and conduct experiments. The game sees players venturing out on missions with randomly-generated dungeon maps that grant story progress and unlock new environments, quests, and more when completed. It features real-time-with-pause combat along with immediate spellcasting. Between runs, players can manage their party, recruit new characters, craft and purchase items, and build up their home base.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly become obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPG. At the time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as more as gameplay. Now, I am, writing about them, especially my favorite ones, the JRPG!
