Developer J-Cat Games has begun a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for its pixel-art action RPG Godshard Chronicles. The game is set in the high fantasy world of Alban, whose former deities now exist as pieces in the form of the eponymous Godshards. It follows Mana Knights Adanna and Ruby as they search for Adanna’s lost father while uncovering the mysteries behind the Godshards.

Godshard Chronicles features a top-down view with two playable characters. The game is playable both solo — with solo players able to freely swap between characters while the other is controlled by the AI — as well as in two-player drop-in local co-op. Both characters have access to melee and ranged attacks, with spells and abilities that can be upgraded throughout the game. Godshard Chronicles features music from Lunar and Grandia composer Noriyuki Iwadare as well as violinist Shauno Isomura, with vocal tracks featuring singer Emi Evans, as well as English voice acting and animated cutscenes.

Godshard Chronicles is being developed for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The Kickstarter campaign is looking for $50,000 in funding and is set to run until April 3, 2024. Those who pledge at least $20 will receive a digital copy of the game, which is initially planned to release in 2026. Physical editions are also being produced with Premium Edition Games for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, and are available as part of certain reward tiers.
