Metaphor: ReFantazio Also Confirmed for PlayStation, Steam

Atlus has confirmed that its recently announced title Metaphor: ReFantazio will release on additional platforms. The fantasy RPG that was initially teased in 2016 under the code name “Project Re Fantasy” will also be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in 2024 in addition to its previously announced PC and Xbox Series X|S versions, with the PC version to be available on Steam as well as the Microsoft Store.

In addition, Atlus held a livestream presentation for the game. The hour-long video, in Japanese with English subtitles, which includes a new trailer and discussion about the trailer as well as some details behind the game’s development. The company also posted a fifteen-minute interview, also in Japanese with English subtitles, with director Katsura Hashino, character designer Shigenori Soejima, and composer Shoji Meguro.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is developed by Atlus’s Studio Zero, which is behind the latest mainline Persona titles. The game features a fantasy world that incorporates modern and medieval influences. The “Fantazio” in the game’s title is borrowed from the Esperanto auxiliary language, which is utilised within the game. Footage from the game’s trailers has shown turn-based combat, as well as a calendar system.
