New Release Round-Up (April 13, 2023)
Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.
Ghostwire: Tokyo takes place in a supernatural foggy Tokyo, where the populace has been replaced by creatures called Visitors. The game follows Akito, a young man who ends up sharing his body with ghost hunter K.K. as they explore the deserted streets looking for Akito’s sister and the hannya mask-wearing man responsible for what’s going on. The Xbox Series X|S version comes with the release of the free Spider’s Thread update that adds a new 30-stage gauntlet, a new area to the main game, new missions, extended cutscenes, new enemies, and new skills. Those looking to read more about Ghostwire: Tokyo can check out RPGamer’s review of the PlayStation 5 version as well as an interview with composer Masatoshi Yanagi.
Hunt the Night
Pixel-art action RPG Hunt the Night is set in a world that cycles between day and night periods. Humanity freely rules during the day, but the night is ruled by horrid creatures that always wipe out humanity before they reemerge in the next day cycle. Players control Vesper as she travels the land trying to save those who she can while finding a way to banish the night. Console versions are also planned to release at a later date.
Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection
The Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is a remastered bundle of all mainline entries in the Mega Man Battle Network tactical RPG series. Players are able to digitally purchase separate Vol. 1 (1-3) and Vol. 2 (4-6) collections. The series is set in the near future world of Net Society. The populace depends on computer programs known as Network Navigators (NetNavi) that manage everything, which has led to new opportunities for cybercriminals. Players control Lan Hikari and his NetNavi MegaMan.EXE as they explore the net and take part in grid-based combat.
Tactical RPG Wartales takes place in the remnants of the Edoran Empire, which still suffer from the effects of a plague one hundred years earlier. Players attempt to survive the cutthroat world by recruiting mercenaries and taking on dangerous missions to pay the bills. The game, which had been in Early Access since 2021, features turn-based combat with the open world planned to allow for creative solutions to combat.
