Dragon Quest Treasures Online Features Detailed

Square Enix released new details and screenshots focusing on the online feature for Dragon Quest Treasures, which launches this week. Once players have built up a sufficiently large gang of monsters, they will meet AL4N, a mechanical diplomat who grants them access to the Gang Network online hub.

The Gang Network lets players check others’ profiles and participate in Treasure Hunts and Treasure Tours, without needing a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Treasure Hunts let players hide their own treasure or attempt to find treasure hidden by others by downloading their treasure data. The more a treasure spot is downloaded, the more valuable the treasure it contains. Players are informed by their monsters when another player’s treasure is hidden nearby. While treasure from other players are not stored within the treasure vault, they can be sold for money.

Treasure Tours let players send their monsters to visit other players’ bases and show off a piece of treasure. The visited player can then give a like to the treasure before the time runs out, boosting its value. By sharing Gang IDs and a secret password, players can invite monsters of others to their base. Visiting monsters will take the treasure back with them, but will leave a replica.

Dragon Quest Treasures was originally teased as a new Dragon Quest Monsters game in 2018. The game follows siblings Erik and Mia — younger versions of the characters from Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age — who seek to obtain the seven Dragonstones. The game will release worldwide for Nintendo Switch on December 9, 2022.
