Do the Pokemon movies count, as they’re based on the anime series rather than the games directly? My favorite out of those is the 8th movie, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.
Other than that, I really enjoyed Detective Pikachu.
I liked the Steins;Gate movie (even if it happened because of the anime). The Tales of Vesperia movie was decent enough too, if mostly for puppy Repede.
I’m the friend of Josh’s that mentioned the video game movie podcast last week. I’ll keep the shameless plugs to a minimum and just say it’s called Multimedia Failure. Anyway, our group ranking that’s completely scientific has the first Resident Evil movie as the best video game movie. My personal favorite is Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. The live action Street Fighter is a lot of fun too, even if it is dumb as hell.
The Yakuza movie we had Josh on as a guest for is pretty okay too. My favorite scene there is when Majima peeks around the corner to look at Kiryu and he’s peeking around it with the eye with the eyepatch on. Just classic Majima moment there.
