Ys IX Local Co-op Mode Available on PC

NIS America has released an experimental local two-player co-op for Nihon Falcom’s action RPG Ys IX: Monstum Nox. The mode is available on PC only through Steam and is compatible with Steam’s Remote Play Together. Co-op can be enabled with an in-game setting, with the second player able to drop-in by pressing start on a non-primary controller. The capabilities of the second player are largely equivalent to those of the first, with only menu and map interactions exclusive to the first player. Character switching is available to both players; if there are three characters in the party, either player is able to swap to the uncontrolled character.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox takes place in the “prison city” of Balduq, where Adol finds himself imprisoned. In prison, a mysterious woman named Aprilis turns him into a Monstrum, a being with supernatural Gifts and the power to exorcise monsters. Ys IX: Monstrum Nox originally released for PlayStation 4 in North America and Europe in February 2021, with PC, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia versions released later in the year.
