Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights Media, Details Revealed

Square Enix announced that pre-registration has begun in Japan for mobile title Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights. The announcement comes with new media and details for the free-to-play game.

Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights is a single-player RPG that features a story written by Keiichi Ajiro (who has worked on the scenario for previous titles in the series) with music by Revo (Bravely Default, Bravely Default II). Combat includes the series’ Brave and Default actions that let characters use multiple actions per turn. The game promises “no character gachas” and features returning characters from across the series.

The story of Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights introduces four new Warriors of Light — Claire, Steel Franklin, Sandra Cassandra, and Rufus — as well as the fairy Lumina. The game is set in a land where 5,000 years have passed since an alchemist proposed the creation of the life-giving Crystal. However, its light has not spread to the land, which has seen the spreading of a wasteland called the Blood Sands, while a giant’s arrows have created a rift dividing the land into east and west. The game begins in an area that has remained green, the Alchemy City of Brass. Claire is an alchemist’s apprentice in Brass who is tasked with investigating a ball of light that appears on the city’s outskirts.

Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights will be released for iOS and Android in Japan, though a release date has not been announced. No announcement has been made regarding a possible western release.
