Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights Shining in Japan This Week

Square Enix announced that mobile RPG Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights will release in Japan on January 27, 2022. The game will be available as a free-to-play title with in-app transactions on iOS and Android, with its opening movie viewable below. An international release has not been announced at this time.

Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights is a single-player RPG that features a story written by Keiichi Ajiro (who has worked on the scenario for previous titles in the series) with music by Revo (Bravely Default, Bravely Default II). Combat includes the series’ Brave and Default actions, which let characters use multiple actions per turn. The game introduces four new Warriors of Light — Claire, Steel Franklin, Sandra Cassandra, and Rufus — as well as the fairy Lumina. It features returning characters from across the series, though promises “no character gachas”.
