Dragon Quest X Offline Releasing in Japan in February

Square Enix announced that Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Offline, its single-player offline version of MMORPG Dragon Quest X, will release in Japan on February 26, 2022. The game will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. Those who purchase the game on PlayStation 4 will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.

Dragon Quest X is set on the world of Astoltia, which has five main continents and many islands. Players set out on an adventure to save Astoltia from its plague of demons, travelling across the continents inhabited by the eponymous five tribes: the Ogres, the Wetlings, the Elves, the Poppets, and the Dwarves. Square Enix revealed five companion characters: Maille, the kind Ogre; Ragus, the introverted prince; Fuura, a girl whose mother has passed away; Fuser, a lone travelling swordsman; and Dasuton, a junk-loving oddball.

Square Enix also announced that expansion The Sleeping Hero and the Guiding Ally — based on the MMORPG’s first expansion of the same name — will be released in spring 2022. The expansion takes players on a luxury cruise ship to a new adventure on the land of Rendashia. No announcement has been made regarding a possible western release for Dragon Quest X Offline.
