The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki Introduces More Supporting Cast

Nihon Falcom released some new images and details for the upcoming The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki. The update introduces numerous supporting characters as well as two new locations.

The first two characters are members of the secretive Ouroboros organisation. Walter Kron is Enforcer No. VIII within Ouroboros and a user of the Taito style martial art. He is attracted to power and comes across protagonist Van while looking for a young man in the Calvard Republic. Lucrezia Isselee is Ouroboros’ Enforcer No. III and cultivates an elegant appearance including covering her face with a veil. Before joining Ouroboros, she fought against them as an assassin. Meanwhile, Mare is a custom-made artificial intelligence called a Hollow Core that is installed in Van’s Xipha orbment device. She becomes able to materialise as a hologram after a certain event and can combine with Van into a powerful being called Grendel.

The other twelve characters are citizens around the Calvard Republic. Roy Gramheart is the current president of the nation, having defeated predecessor Samuel Rocksmith in the election two years ago. He has a casual demeanor but is known for making quick decisions and is popular thanks to the revitalised economy. Ashen Lu is part of the Lu family, which holds power over the Heiyue syndicate. She and Aaron Wei are childhood friends. Paulette is the manager of bistro Monmarte and the building it’s in, which also houses Van’s Spriggan business. She returned to the city six years ago with her daughter Yume, who acts as the bistro’s poster girl.

Dingo Brad is a reporter for the magazine Meld. He works alone and uses whatever means he can to get information, giving him connections with the Spriggans and other secretive organisations. Nina Fenly is an actress and singer who is rising in popularity. She considers Judith Ranster to be a senior, friend, and rival.

Gilliam Thorndyke is the general manager of the Marduk Total Security Company. He is a skilled entrepreneur but not highly thought of by Van. Kasim Al-Fayed is Feri‘s older brother and was seen as the stronger fighter within the Khurga jaeger corps. However, he has cut ties with them and joined the Marduk Total Security Company. Latoya Hamilton was formerly a professor at the College of Science and lead advisor of the technology company Verne. She is one of the three apprentices of the famed Professor Epstein and quit her role three years ago.

Esmeray Archette is an associate professor at the College of Science’s biotechnology lab. She is one of Latoya’s apprentices and a designer of the new Xipha combat orbment. Albert and Odette are both first-year students at Aramis High School. Albert is the accountant for the student council, while Odette acts as its secretary. Both are long-time friends of Agnes Claudel.

Creil is a rural village home to around 1,000 people that is to the southeast of the Erebonian Empire’s Nord Highlands on Calvard’s northwestern border. It is a popular recreational spot and is known to be a rest spot for jaegers, who seem to actively avoid causing any trouble around the village. Longlai is a city of around 20,000 people on the eastern tip of Calvard, located between the Tianshan and Ischgl mountains. It has long been known as a merchant hotspot and hosts a training ground for each of the three major Eastern martial arts. Despite the increasing barrenness of the eastern part of the continent affecting its traffic, it has remained popular as a health resort and tourist attraction thanks to its hot springs and tea cultivation.

The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki takes place a year after the events of the previous title, Trails into Reverie, and two years after the events of Trails of Cold Steel III and Trails of Cold Steel IV. The game is set in the diverse Calvard Republic, the eastern neighbour and superpower rival to the Erebonian Empire that was the setting for the Trails of Cold Steel subseries. Kuro no Kiseki is set to be released for PlayStation 4 in Japan on September 30, 2021. A western release has not been announced, though NIS America recently announced western releases for previous titles in the series.
