Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is the latest title in the Bokujo Monogatari/Story of Seasons farming/life simulation franchise. The game sends players to Olive Town, a frontier seaside town where they attempt to restore their grandfather’s farm.
Marvelous is really pushing this fame hard and boy does it make me sad that it isn’t better. Harvest Moon has really had trouble capturing what made it special and interesting ever since Tree of Tranquility or Animal Parade in my opinion. That was a long time ago. Now they are mimicking Stardew Valley with very mixed results. Also just baffling decisions like making your customizable part of the house a tiny square in the corner. Did they not get any tip from Animal Crossing? Also what is with the lack of portraits and boring personalities of townspeople where everyone is commenting on the exact same thing like clones of each other. The ‘museum’ area where fish you donate appear as tiny silhouettes in individual tanks that you cannot see. The need for a bunch of stardew valley ‘makers’ cluttering up your farm area.
All I can say to fans is based on what we’ve seen, give this a pass and play Rune Factory 4 instead untilRune Factory 5 comes out. You’ll have a much better time.
