Rune Factory 5 Launching in Japan in May
Marvelous announced that Rune Factory 5 will launch in Japan for Nintendo Switch on May 20, 2021. The publisher also released more details and media for the game, including introducing four of the game’s marriage candidates. The game is expected to release in North America and Europe sometime in 2021.
Rune Factory 5 is the latest title in the Bokujō Monogatari spin-off series and combines the parent series’ farming sim elements with action RPG combat and exploration. The game sees the amnesiac protagonist ending up in the nature-surrounded town of Rigberth. They elect to join the town guard — known as Seed — to help protect the peace, spending their time adventuring with companions, growing crops on the farm, fishing, and building relationships with the townspeople.
Players can choose a male (Ares) or female (Alice) protagonist. Two bachelors and bachelorettes were revealed, whom players can romance, marry, and start a family with. The bachelors are Martin, a blacksmith’s apprentice who is often blunt, and Reinhard, who is a visiting young knight skilled in politics and has sworn his allegiance to the Nohrad Kingdom. The bachelorettes are Priscilla, a cheerful girl who has lived in Rigberth her entire life, and Scarlet, a half-elf who is far from her home and is diligent and hard-headed. Other townsfolk are Livia, the local head of Seed; Gandage, a Seed inspector-general; and Oswald, the head of a band of thieves.
