Take a Tour of No Straight Roads’ Vinyl City

As part of the Guerrilla Collective showcase, developer Metronomik published a video sneak peek for its upcoming rhythm-based action RPG, No Straight Roads. Narrated by Game Director Wan Hazmer, the three-minute video is a guided tour through parts of Vinyl City, discussing gameplay, story, and the rhythm-based boss battles.

Players take on the roles of Mayday and Zuke, guitarist and drummer of the indie rock band Bunk Bed Junction. The game allows switching between the two characters in single-player mode or two-player couch co-op. The focus of the game is to travel through the colorful Vinyl City, challenging a corrupt EDM empire that has banned rock music from all public performances. To do so, Mayday and Zuke must use the power of rock to reclaim Vinyl City’s individual sections by challenging music-themed bosses, including a classical music child prodigy and a robotic boy band, during their own concert performances. Combat is heavily reliant on rhythm, with boss attacks timed to their music.

No Straight Roads will be available for PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Interested readers can learn more by checking out Charalampos Papadimitriou’s hands-on impression of the game from E3 2019.
