New Scarlet Nexus Footage Released

Bandai Namco released a new trailer and provided some gameplay footage for the upcoming action RPG Scarlet Nexus. The trailer features an fully-animated sequence from studio Sunrise Inc. as well as showing some of the members of the Other Suppression Force and the opponents they face. In addition, new gameplay footage was shown during IGN’s Summer of Gaming event, where Director Kenji Anabuki and Producer Keita Iizuka participated in an interview with Miranda Sanchez, with Yuji Moriya serving as translator.

Bandai Namco also shared some details about player character Yuito Sumeragi through the game’s official Twitter account. Yuito is a new recruit in the OSF based in the city of New Himuka. The Sumaragi family founded the city and Yuito is its current head’s second son, with his father serving as the leader of the government and his brother as a bureaucrat within the OSF. He decides to join the OSF after being saved by them during an attack, and demonstrates his ability to read unfolding situations and adapt to them in the course of his training.

The development team for Scarlet Nexus features a number of members who have previously worked on the Tales series. The game set in the far future after a psionic hormone is discovered that enables humanity to obtain psycho-kinetic abilities. Coinciding with the new power, mutants known as Others descend from the sky and exhibit thirst for the brains of humans while being impervious to regular attacks. Those with psionic abilities are able to strike back, however, and are recruited into the Other Suppression Force. The game is set to be released for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X later this year.
