Final Fantasy VII Remake Video Review Pilot

RPGamer is currently looking into providing audio-visual versions of our regular written reviews. To help gauge the potential of doing this, we have produced a video review version of our Final Fantasy VII Remake review, which can be found below.

At this stage, future videos are contingent on both interest and available resources, so we would like to hear whether similar videos will be of interest to our current readers as well as others. Regardless, we hope you enjoy this pilot video and look forward to hearing from you.

I probably represent a limited demographic of the site in that I can’t stand watching videos of things that could otherwise be a written article, so I hope you guys keep making written reviews. Been a reader of the site since the Unofficial Squaresoft Homepage days, it would be a disappointment to me if you guys stopped doing written articles. Not that you’ve indicated this with your post, but you asked for feedback.

The written articles would continue; in fact, the video review is simply a visual version of the previously-written review. So those would not go away.

I sure hope written articles don’t go away and I sincerely hope they don’t spend too much time with video articles. I personally have left a great deal of sites before and not returned because they’ve gone this route.

I don’t care to listen to people chopping up their sentences to get twenty minutes worth of speech in to a five minute video. I find the pacing annoying and I just want to read the information, not be distracted with intros, outros, bad sound levels, “like and subscribe” and all the other horrible trappings of modern video reviews.

I’ll also say that I can’t count the amount of times I started watching a video review and quit after thirty seconds because I simply couldn’t understand the mumbling through the music. No thank you.

  2. Nice, I like this ideia. Always good to have the option for both the written and the video reviews.
