NieR Replicant Remaster Announced

Square Enix has announced that for the 10th anniversary of NieR, it will be remastering the cult-classic for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC as NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139. Series director Yoko Taro joins composer Keiichi Okabe and producer Yousuke Saito to collaborate for the project. The announcement trailer can be viewed below.

NieR was originally released in 2010 in two versions in Japan, NieR Gestalt and NieR Replicant, while North America and Europe only received the Gestalt version. Both games tell the same story, with the main character attempting to find a cure for family member Yonah. In Gestalt the character is Yonah’s father, while inĀ Replicant the main character is her brother. The game is an action RPG that borrows elements from many different genres with 2017’s NieR: Automata acting as a distant sequel.
