Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.1 Dated

Square Enix held its Letter from the Producer Part LV presentation today, during which it announced a release date and provided more details about the upcoming version 5.1 patch for Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers. The patch, titled Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty, will be released on October 29, 2019, and will include multiple pieces of new content. The full presentation, which has Japanese audio only but English text on the presentation slides, can be viewed below alongside a new trailer for the patch.

The major highlights of Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty are the first parts of the post-Shadowbringers main scenario, which includes a brand new dungeon, the Grand Cosmos. It also includes the first part of the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse 24-player raid series that ties in with NieR: Automata and was created alongside NieR: Automata producer Yosuke Saito and director Yoko Taro.

Other major additions coming in the patch are a new Extreme version of the final Trial in Shadowbringers, as well as the debut of the New Game Plus mode and the start of an overhaul of the gathering and crafting classes. It will also add the newly-revealed Pixie Beast Tribe quests, which take players to a new area, Lyhe Mheg, otherwise known as the Garden of Dreams. Other changes include adjustments to many of the classes, particularly Ninja, Samurai, and Summoner; the new Fellowship community system; updates to Performance Actions; and a new Gold Saucer mini-game featuring Yojimbo.

A following 5.11 patch will add in the first part of the Restoration of the Holy See of Ishgard content for gathering and crafting classes, as well as a new Ultimate difficulty raid: the Epic of Alexander. The 5.15 patch will also add in a new PvP Frontline map, Onsal Hakair. More details about the upcoming 5.1, and associated, patches can be found on its dedicated site.

There are a lot of changes coming to jobs in 5.1 too.

Ninja is getting a few large changes. Samurai, Summoner, and Astrologian are getting not as major changes. Black Mage is the only job not getting any gameplay changes, although it is getting a UI change.

The translations from the Live Letter slides have been posted on Reddit (will post link shortly).
