Persona 5 Royal Livestream Provides New Details, Media
Atlus held its first Japanese livestream for Persona 5 Royal today, providing more details and media for the upcoming game. In addition to new screenshots, the livestream debuted the game’s second official trailer, Goro Akechi’s character trailer, and the fourth Morgana’s Report video.
The new details revealed primarily concern the new character Jose. He is a robotic boy whom the Phantom Thieves find in Mementos, an underground dungeon where they can accomplish numerous side missions. Jose is collecting flowers found in Mementos and is trying to study humans. He can convert the new “Ishi” items found in Mementos into powerful accessories and will trade items for any flowers players find. Players can also collect stamps from pads around Mementos, which Jose can use to provide alterations, such as granting more experience points for defeating enemies. Mementos will also include new pitch black areas as well as a new type of mission where players must negotiate with the target using pieces of information collected elsewhere.
Other details revealed include an alteration to Goro’s Confidant, which is now levelled up in the same manner as other Confidants in addition to including new abilities to acquire. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 4 Share Function will allow players to share any content up until mid-December in-game, and one new Palace dungeon is confirmed for the additional third semester content in Royal.
Persona 5 Royal is set to be released in Japan for PlayStation 4 on October 31, 2019, before coming to North America and Europe in 2020. The release adds a new playable character, Kasumi, and will continue the game into the third semester of the school year in Japan, which runs from January to April. It will also add new locations, new events, new combat strategies, and other features.
