Nihon Falcom Introduces More Ys IX Characters
Nihon Falcom has introduced a new batch of characters for the upcoming Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. The first of the new characters is Aprilis, the hooded girl who was a focus of some of the images from the game’s original announcement. She has an artificial arm and leg and always appears wounded or tired.
The second character is Carla, who is a hungry merchant of the Pendleton Company, the biggest organisation in the prison city of Baldeux, and the daughter of its leader. She is joined by her younger sister, Kilysha, who is much shier than Carla but also appears to be making good efforts as a merchant. Their father, Riche, also appears in the game. He gained his power and wealth by monopolising the mining rights of multiple regions around the city and puts business and profit above all else.
Meanwhile, Parks is a middle-aged man incarcerated in the city’s prison, who was apparently arrested for fraud. He is carefree and provides information to Adol. The bar Dandelion also hosts a couple of important characters. Yufa is a waitress who appears cheerful, but is burdened with having to support her younger siblings by herself. Her childhood friend works at the city’s arena and she will sometimes share information with Adol. Finally, Chante runs Dandelion and is known to give good advice to its patrons. He has amassed a large group of contacts in the city and has lots of information about the city and its residents.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is the latest title in the long-running action RPG series and is set to be released in Japan for PlayStation 4 on September 26, 2019. No announcement has been made regarding a potential western release for the game.
