Kickstarter Check-In: Chromatose

Chromatose is a visual novel/RPG hybrid from Akabaka, and the developer has begun a crowdfunding campaign for the game on Kickstarter. Chromatose is set in a mysterious world that the player character wakes up in after a fall that should have ended their life. Joining them in this world are ten others, each with their own personal story. The characters have twelve hours to escape or risk never waking up in the real world.

Chromatose is expected to have a heavy focus on meaningful decisions and character relationships, including multiple endings. The combat system is card-based, with the relationships that players build with the other characters having a significant impact on their combat power. A two-hour demo, which includes two difficulty options, is available to download from itch.io and Game Jolt.

Akabaka is looking for $22,000 in funding by April 11, 2019. Those who pledge at least $15 will receive a digital copy of the game as part of their backer rewards. Chromatose is being developed for PC and Mac and initially planned for release in 2021.
