Outward Dev Diary Details Exploration

Publisher Deep Silver and developer Nine Dots Studio have released a new developer diary video for open-world RPG Outward. The new video, which is the second in a series, details multiple exploration and survival elements in the game.

A key item for players is the backpack they will carry with them. The backpack comes in multiple sizes. Larger ones will be able to carry more but will also impede players’ movement. Players will, however, be able to drop their backpack in order to move more quickly in combat, though at the cost of not having ready access to the items inside.

The game features four different regions, each with different environments that players will need to deal with, such as freezing nights or poisonous swamps. There is no mini-map, so players will need to use landmarks to determine where they are on the map.

Outward puts players in the role of a vulnerable inhabitant in the fantasy world of Aurai. The game includes hardcore survival elements including wounds that can become infected plus the need for sleep and sustenance. It will also feature two-player cooperative multiplayer both locally and online. Outward is set to be released on March 26, 2019, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
