Idea Factory International Shows Some Death end re;Quest Battle Tactics
Idea Factory International has provided new media for its upcoming western release of Compile Heart’s Death end re;Quest. A new trailer and set of screenshots, viewable below, help to showcase the game’s Bug Skills and Battle Jack systems. Compile Heart also recently held a livestream for the game, with the recording also available to view.
Bug Skills are skills unique to each party member, which can be used to overcome obstacles or reach certain places. Meanwhile, the Battle Jack system allows protagonist Arata — who is in the real world — to utilise the Code Jack, Install Genre, and Summon options and influence the battle. The Battle Jack system can only be used when 50% of the field bugs on the battle area have been removed.
Code Jack allows Arata to buff allies or debuff enemies. Install Genre allows Arata to change the gameplay from a turn-based RPG into another genre such as action, fighting, slot, shooter, puzzle, or billiards, though the change only lasts for one turn. Finally, Summon lets Arata summon a previously defeated special enemies known as an Entoma Queens onto the battlefield, where they act as another party member.
Death end re;Quest is set to be released in North America and Europe for PlayStation 4 on February 19, 2019. The game follows two main protagonists, Shina Ninomiya and Arata Mizunashi, both employees of the developer behind fictional VRMMORPG World’s Odyssey. Though the VRMMORPG is cancelled, Shina finds herself trapped within the game, while Arata attempts to rescue her from the real world in the city of Sagami. Anna Marie Privitere was able to check out the game at this year’s E3 in Los Angeles.
