Idea Factory International Press Event Provides New Announcements

Publisher Idea Factory International held its annual press event today, where it made a series of new announcements. The first of those announcements was that the company will be releasing Compile Heart’s Varnir of the Dragon Star in North America and Europe under the title Dragon Star Varnir. The game will be released for PlayStation 4 in spring 2019.

Dragon Star Varnir stars Zephy, a knight who becomes lost in a remote forest. He is rescued by a witch, but in the process drinks the blood of a dragon that attacked him, causing a special power to awaken. He joins up with other surviving witches, who also have draconic powers and are persecuted by the other citizens of the world. A key part of the game is feeding the witches dragon blood; not feeding them will drive them to madness, but feeding them too much will cause the dragon seed within them to fully grow into a dragon, with both sides causing significant changes to the game’s ending. The western release will feature both English and Japanese voice acting.

Idea Factory International also announced that it will be releasing another Compile Heart RPG. Arc of Alchemist will be coming to North America and Europe for PlayStation in summer 2019. The action RPG follows Quinn Bravesford and her allies as they search the great desert looking for a device that can reverse the planet’s desertification and save humanity. The western release will feature both English and Japanese voice acting.

In its third and final RPG announcement, the publisher revealed a release date for its other upcoming Compile Heart-developed title, Death end re;Quest. The game will be released physically and digitally for PlayStation 4 in North America on February 19, 2019, with a European release following shortly after on February 22, 2019. Death end re;Quest follows two main protagonists, Shina Ninomiya and Arata Mizunashi, both employees of the developer behind fictional VRMMORPG World’s Odyssey. Though the VRMMORPG is cancelled, Shina finds herself trapped within the game, while Arata attempts to rescue her while in the real world in the city of Sagami.

In a final non-RPG announcement, the publisher also revealed that it will be releasing visual novel/dating sim Date A Live: Rio Reincarnation in North America and Europe. The game will be released for PlayStation 4 and PC in summer 2019. The game features eleven different characters and over 150 events and also includes the content for two previous PlayStation 3-only titles in the series, Rinne Utopia and Arusu Install.
