Octopath Traveler Out Now, Final Extra Details Revealed

Square Enix’s Octopath Traveler is out now worldwide for Nintendo Switch. With the game’s launch comes a new overview launch trailer. The four-and-a-half-minute video, viewable below, details the game’s structure, where players choose one starting character but can recruit the remaining seven as they progress. Players can experience the full stories for all eight characters in a single playthrough. As previously detailed, the eight characters each have their own distinct special path action, which fall into the noble and rogue path categories.

Octopath Traveler features a turn-based battle system with deeper elements such as the break system where players can exploit foes’ weaknesses to incapacitate them, and boost system that lets players tactically augment their actions. Each character has a primary starting job, but they can also take on an additional secondary job letting them equip different weapons and abilities, as well as altering the character sprite. On top of the eight jobs held by the characters, the game also features four extra unlockable jobs. Players will also be able to witness various party chats throughout the game, with different conversations available at different locations depending on the current make-up of the party.
