More Dragon Quest Builders 2 Details Revealed

Square Enix revealed more information about Dragon Quest Builders 2, providing more details about the game’s story and some additions to its gameplay. The game is set sometime after the cleric Hargon and the God of Destruction Malroth were defeated (who are major antagonists of Dragon Quest II). However, the Hargon Order still lingers in the world, bent on destruction and seeking to eradicate builders.

At the start of the game, the protagonist of Dragon Quest Builders 2, who can be male or female, drifts onto an uninhabited island. Here they find a boy named Malroth, and the two make a base on the island, from which they explore the surrounding areas while the protagonist enhances their building skills. Eventually the protagonist hears a voice that guides them to a stone monument on top of a mountain, which states that various trials found on pillars around the island will lead to their undertaker becoming a master builder, a goal that the protagonist aims to achieve.

In terms of gameplay, Dragon Quest Builders 2 will let players create structures up to a hundred floors high. They will also be able to adjust the environment so that water can drop over cliffs, swim underwater, glide using a special mantle, sprint, create diagonally-shaped blocks, and play in first-person perspective.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 is being developed for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The game does not yet have a release date in Japan, nor has it been announced for a western release.
