Compile Heart Announces Mary Skelter 2

Japanese developer Compile Heart has announced a sequel to PlayStation Vita dungeon-crawling RPG Mary Skelter: Nightmares. Mary Skelter 2 features various enhancements over the first game, including dungeon size adjustments; additional time spent on balancing and debugging; and new warehouse, quest, and Jail Roulette features.

Mary Skelter 2 stars a new main character: Tsuu. She and her ally Little Mermaid are sent out to rescue Alice and Jack from the living prison known simply as Jail. During the mission, Alice becomes driven by madness and indiscriminately attacks the other three, leading to the trio to fall down a cliff. Jack appears about to die, but he gets trapped by a cord and turned into a mindless being called Nightmare, though Jack manages to retain his kind heart and thus offers his support to Tsuu and Little Mermaid. It is not clear what relation Alice and Jack have to the Alice and Jack characters of the first game.

Mary Skelter 2 is being developed for PlayStation 4 and is set to be released on June 28, 2018 in Japan. In addition to the sequel, the release will also include a remake of the first game that includes all the enhancements made to the various systems in the sequel. Both a teaser trailer and the game’s opening movie can be viewed below.
