New Release Round-Up (November 11, 2021)

Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases.


Alchemic Cutie

Alchemic Cutie is a simulation RPG set on Wimba Island that sees players taming and raising wild jellies. Each jelly has different attributes and traits and players have various options to grow them. These jellies can then be entered in competitions.


Blue Reflection: Second Light

Platform: PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch

Blue Reflection: Second Light follows Ao Hoshizaki and her friends, who lost their memories and are transported to a mysterious floating academy. While looking for a way home, they find an area around the academy they name Heartscape. In Heartscape, they discover various crafting materials as well as shining fragments that restore parts of their memories. Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster

Platform: PC (also on iOS, Android)

The Pixel Remaster version of Final Fantasy V joins those of the previous four titles and includes redrawn 2D pixel characters and background graphics, including character pixel designs from the game’s original artist Kazuko Shibuya. They also include rearranged soundtracks, controller and touch controls, updated UIs, and auto-battle options as well as new features including a bestiary, an illustration gallery, a music player, and the ability to save at any time. A Pixel Remaster release of Final Fantasy VI is also planned, but has not yet been dated.


Mercenaries Rebirth: Call of the Wild Lynx

Mercenaries Rebirth: Call of the Wild Lynx is the sixth entry in Rideon’s Mercenaries series and is set around the kingdom of Astras. The main protagonist is Irvin, former leader of a famous mercenary group who now acts as a lone wolf but retains a strong sense of loyalty to his clients. Mercenaries Rebirth features isometric turn-based tactical combat with 3D maps where height is a factor.


Shin Megami Tensei V

Platform: Nintendo Switch

Shin Megami Tensei V is the fifth mainline title in the series, which has branched into numerous spin-offs including Persona. Players control a Tokyo high school student who finds himself in a different apocalyptic version of the city. Before he is killed by hostile demons, he is saved by a mysterious being who merges with him to form a Nahobino, a powerful being that is neither human nor demon.


Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Platform: Nintendo Switch (previously released on PC, Mac, Xbox, iOS, Android)

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was originally released for PC and Xbox in 2003, with a Mac version released in 2004 followed by iOS and Android ports in 2013 and 2014. The game, now considered part of the non-canonical Legends timeline, takes place 4,000 years prior to the Galactic Empire. Players control a Jedi Knight aiming to defeat Darth Malak and his Sith armada. Aspyr Media is also working on a complete remake of the game for PC and PlayStation 5.


The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition celebrates the tenth anniversary of the original game. The bundle is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S and includes all three expansions plus over 500 pieces of content from the Creation Club, an in-game store that adds new content accessed by spending credits paid for with real-world money. Skyrim is an open-world RPG that takes players to the icy province of Skyrim in the north of Tamriel. Players control a customised character known as the Dragonborn on a quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater while also undertake numerous quests and activities around Skyrim as they see fit.
