Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Announced

During today’s PlayStation Showcase, Sony, Lucasfilm Games, and Aspyr Media announced a remake of BioWare’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The remake is being developed for PC and PlayStation 5, though a release window has not been revealed.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was originally released for PC and Xbox in 2003, with a Mac version released in 2004 followed by iOS and Android ports in 2013 and 2014. The game, now considered part of the non-canonical Legends timeline, takes place 4,000 years prior to the Galactic Empire. Players control a Jedi Knight aiming to defeat Darth Malak and his Sith armada.

Aspyr Media stated that the game will be rebuilt from the ground up. No direct details or footage from the remake were revealed, but a teaser trailer shows major character Revan and features Jennifer Hale, the original voice actor for party member Bastila Shan.
