Shujinkou Arriving on Epic Games Store, Mac App Store Next Week
Update [9/2] — Rice Games has also announced that the game will be coming to the Mac App Store on the same date. The Mac App Store version will be free-to-start, with content unlock purchases for its main story arcs and DLC, including two bundles.
Developer Rice Games announced that its language-learning dungeon-crawler Shujinkou will arrive on the Epic Games Store for PC and Mac on September 9, 2026. The game originally released for PC and Mac via Steam, as well as PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, in February 2025, with a Nintendo Switch version following later in the year. To mark the release, all editions of the game will receive a $20 launch discount.
Shujinkou features an eighty-plus-hour story campaign split across two major arcs. It follows Shu, Jin, and Kou as they try to save the world from the Akuma and sees players tackling sixteen labyrinths using various skills, items, and equipment. Other content allows them to take on quests, cook, fish, participate in mini-games, shop, and more. Players can learn hiragana, katakana, and numerous kanji, as well as over a hundred types of grammar corresponding to the JLPT’s (Japanese-Language Proficiency Test) N5 to N3 standards, with the game also including some content up to N1. Those looking to read more about Shujinkou can check out RPGamer’s interview with director Julian Rice and Luis Mauricio’s review of the game’s PlayStation 5 release.
