Gods, Death & Reapers Early Access Pushed to 2027, New Playtest Announced

Wolcen Studio announced that it has pushed back its planned Steam Early Access release free-to-play action RPG Gods, Death & Reapers. The Early Access version is now planned to release in February 2027 in order to give the game additional development time.

The studio has, however, also announced a new playtest for the game later this month. The Closed Alpha 6 playtest will run from September 24-28, 2026, and will be available for participants across North America, Europe, South America, East Asia, and Southeast Asia. It will introduce the game’s party system, the new double axes weapon, Soulbound items, and the new Asgard map. Additional details on the playtest and how to sign up can be found here.

Gods, Death & Reapers is set in an afterlife where gods have perished but where mythology is real. The player takes on the role of an individual chosen by Death to restore balance to various mythological realms, starting with Norse Mythology. The game features an Extraction mode where players enter maps with different objectives and treasures and face off against enemies and other players to claim loot. Only successful extractions grant rewards that can be exchanged with other players.
