Kill the Shadow Releasing Next Week

Developer Shadowlight and publisher Phoenix Game announced detective RPG Kill the Shadow will release for PC via Steam on August 5, 2026. The game is set in a Chinese cyber-noir world and features 3D environments with 2D pixel art characters.

Kill the Shadow puts players in the role of Lucas, a former detective in Dark Tide City. He is haunted figuratively by his past and literally by a supernatural entity that is able to reconstruct the final moments of the dead. Lucas uses the shadow to reconstruct crime scenes as they occurred while getting drawn into a series of cases leading to a years-long conspiracy. Players are able to build up and make use of Lucas’s abilities, such as using charisma to talk through dangerous encounters, with player choices and investigation results leading to multiple potential endings.
