The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales Details the Age of Budding
Square Enix released new screenshots for HD-2D action RPG The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. The new update details the Age of Budding and some of magic that the player’s fairy companion Faie can use, as well as showing some of the game’s newly-released prologue demo.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is set on the continent of Philabieldia. The continent is overrun by beast tribes, with the Kingdom of Huther, under its magic barrier, being humanity’s last bastion. The game stars adventurer Elliot and his fairy companion Faie, who seek to lift a curse placed on Princess Heuria of Huther. To do so, they travel to different ages using the Doorway of Time, recently rediscovered within ancient ruins.
The Age of Budding is the era furthest back in time that Elliot and Faie visit. It is the dawn of human civilisation, as humanity starts to use weapon to try and get the beast tribes at bay. During this time, there is a tribe called the Myū show can speak human language and use powerful magic. The update introduces three characters: Kai is the chief of the first human settlement, Hitoyori, who considers the Myū to be another beast tribe and a threat to the people; Hirk is a woman from Hiyotori who has been studying magic, believing it to be key to humanity’s future and hoping to establish relations with the Myū; and Lyudmila is a woman from the Myū who, after certain events, seeks to teach magic to the humans.
As they explore Philabieldia, players will find Shrines of the Mystic where Faie can learn new magic. This magic will be necessary to get past various obstacles that Elliot encounters on his adventures as well as provide assistance and tricks in combat. For example, fire magic lets Faie light torches, melt ice, and detonate explosives, while a wind vortex lets Faie easily sweep up items and loot or deposit enemies off a ledge. Faie can also turn into a mimic of Elliot, copying his combat moves or being used to press switches. Faie’s abilities can also synergise with Elliot’s abilities and character builds, such as her ability to ignite explosives counteracting the delaying detonation of certain bomb magicite.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales will release on June 18, 2026. The game will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, with physical and digital pre-orders available now on all platforms. A limited physical Collector’s Edition is currently available to pre-order exclusively through Square Enix’s online store, priced at $229.99.
