Curse Warrior Gets New Trailer, Details, Japanese Demo
Nippon Ichi Software and guruguru released a new trailer and details for dungeon-crawler Curse Warrior. In addition to the two-minute Japanese trailer and information covering character loss and curses, the publisher and developer also released a demo for the game in Japan. The demo is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch ahead of its Japanese release for the same platforms on March 26, 2026. A western release has not been announced.
Curse Warrior is set around the city of Echoes, where players act as an adventurer, taking on small jobs and requests. They soon receive a request to explore the nearby dungeon of Eclipse, which keeps the residents in fear as a result of monster attacks coming from within. The game begins with players taking on requests for other dungeons before Eclipse itself becomes available. Players can recruit and upgrade party members from eight different classes. Each class has different strengths and weaknesses when placed on the front or back line of the party.
Allies that are defeated by enemy attacks are immediately lost and cannot be revived or resurrected. The game also makes heavy use of curses. Enemy attacks and dungeon traps will inflict curses on party members. These may restrict actions and abilities or weaken characters. However, they can also provide beneficial effects such as HP recovery and extra damage dealing. Players will need to make strategic use of the curses they pick up to survive. Survival will also be impacted by what items players are able to bring with them or find on their expeditions.
Echoes has a facility called Rainbow Eyes that lets them remove specific curse effects. While a curse is being removed, that character cannot join the party on quests. Removing curses also grants Purification Points, which can be used to upgrade city facilities to help further upgrade the party. Curses can also fuse together to form more powerful curses, which have stronger effects and higher activation rates. Each character can have up to six curses at once, each with two different effects. New curses are afflicted whenever a character’s Curse Gauge is filled to 100%, usually by taking attacks. However, if a character surpasses 300% on the Curse Gauge, they will die from the curse.
