Path of Exile: Keepers of the Flame Expansion Releasing This Week
Grinding Gear Games announced its latest expansion and Challenge League for free-to-play action RPG Path of Exile. Keepers of the Flame will release on October 31, 2025, for PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Like all other Path of Exile content, it is available for free for all players.
Keepers of the Flame is billed as the game’s first ever “League sequel”, building on its previous Breach Challenge League. It sees players encountering Ailith, the founder of the Keepers of the Flame, a secretive order that aims to defend the world of Wraeclast from the invading Breachlords. The Breachlords come from a barren realm, looking to claim all of Wraeclast for themselves and build their constructs across the land. As she channels the Flame, players will need to protect Ailith and destroy the Breachlords’ infestations, and may encounter may also encounter massive breaches that can flood the zone with monsters from within. As players defeat the infestations, they may come under the attention of Vruun, Marshal of Xesht. Defeating him allows players to permanently seal the Breaches.
The Challenge League will see players discover the Genesis Tree at the Monastery of the Keepers. By taking on more Breach encounters, players can grow the Genesis Tree and gain various rewards including currency, unique items, equipment, and grafts. Grafts are a new type of enhancement that are infused directly into the player character’s flesh and embed new skills or defenses. There are sixteen different grafts available for players to mix and match.
Other additions in Keeps of the Flame include new Skill and Support Gems, as well as new Bloodline Ascendancy Classes. These see the players absorb the essence of their foes, with each of the ten classes unlocked on a character-by-character basis by defeating certain endgame bosses. Players can allocate points between their original Ascendancy and their Bloodline Class. Players will also be able to challenge three new Uber Incarnation boss fights. Finally, Keepers of the Flame will introduce asynchronous trading, which was added to Path of Exile 2‘s Early Access version in its The Third Edict update, as well as some additional quality-of-life features.
