Before I listened to this episode, I thought “Bros Likes” were platformers similar to Super Mario Bros.

Anyway, question of the week: I suppose Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was interesting in that it didn’t have experience points or levels at all. Instead, character stats were increased by obtaining special items after boss fights, called artifacts. Additionally, the first Ultima game unusually handled levels and character advancement. While you gain experience points and level up by defeating monsters, all levels do is determine how many monsters appear on the overworld map and what items are available in shops. To gain more HP, you had to either beat monsters in a dungeon and exit it or pay tribute to a king. To increase other stats, you had to examine signs on the overworld. By visiting different signs, you can keep increasing your stats until you max out.
