Mecharashi Global Release Announced

HK Ten Tree and Black Jack Studio announced that they are partnering with Sugarfun Game Limited for the global release of strategy RPG Mecharashi. The game is set to launch for PC (via Steam), Android, and iOS, with no release date as of yet.

Black Jack Studio originally developed the game as a title of Square Enix’s Front Mission series, Front Mission: Borderscape. However, after Black Jack Studio and Square Enix parted ways, the developer released the game in China in winter 2023 for PC and mobile as Mecharashi. A Japanese release followed in October 2024 under the title Metal Storm.

Mecharashi takes place on the futuristic Milkhama Island during a conflict primarily led with mechas. Players are tasked with commanding a mercenary unit of mech pilots and uncovering political machinations that could change the course of history. Players can assemble their mechas and designate their pilots, each with their own personality and backstory. The game features turn-based gameplay, where destroying parts of mechas diminish their capabilities to various degree. A mecha with destroyed legs sees its movement impaired while a mecha with a compromised torso, where the cockpit is located, becomes totally inoperative.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
