Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale Remaster Announced

Japanese developer EasyGameStation has announced a remaster of its simulation/action RPG Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale. The remaster is planned to release in Japanese in 2025. No further details have been provided at this stage.

Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale was released for PC in Japan in 2007 before being released in English by Carpe Fulgur in 2010. The game follows Recette Lemongrass, who is required to run an item shop built into her house after her father skips out on a loan. In order to keep her home, Recette — joined by fairy companion Tear — must earn enough money by obtaining stock from the markets or from beating up monsters in randomised dungeons, correctly pricing it, and decorating her shop.

I always wished for a sequel or a good spiritual successor to this game. Moonlighter scratched that itch a bit but it might be time to revisit the original with this release.
