Card-en-Ciel Gets Story Trailer, More Details

Developer Inti Creates released new media and details for its roguelite deckbuilding RPG Card-en-Ciel. A new story trailer is joined by a music video for its theme song “To the Promised Sky”, performed by character Ancie’s Japanese voice actor Ruriko Noguchi, while new images and details cover the game’s main characters. The game is set to be released digitally for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on October 24, 2024.

Card-en-Ciel follows Neon (voiced by Aleks Le), a gaming detective. He is recruited to investigate an in-development full-div VR game titled Rust Tactics. Logging into the game, he meets developer Ancie (Christina Vee) and joins her in investigating Mad Obstrctive Data (or MODs) that is running rampant inside the world. Their investigations take them into MOD Dungeons, where find strange data called Error Fragments that are stolen by a mysterious man called Selevan Nanakt (Jack Ayres), who uses the error fragments to create a MOD Dungeon in the real world. Also opposed Neon is RiTa (Jackie Lastra), a MOD summoned by Nanakt.

Gameplay sees players clearing out rooms in dungeons by collecting and battling with deck built up from over 300 character cards, attempting to get the boss at the end. Each room cleared grants a choice of reward, with players also earning scores and rewards when they complete the dungeon. Clearing a dungeon unlocks new difficulty levels that can include special rules, as well as award tokens that can be used to power up the player character.
