Dragon Quest Champions Shutting Down

Square Enix announced that the mobile RPG Dragon Quest Champions will end service on July 30, 2024. All in-game currency sales have ended. Square Enix plans to release an “Adventure Log” allowing to access some in-game data of the player through a website.

Dragon Quest Champions was initially released in Japan on June 13, 2023, for iOS and Android and was never released internationally. The game is set in a fantasy world, where peace has been restored after the Hero’s victory over the Demon King. The story follows an adventurer who desires to become a hero himself and searches for his lost father. His ambitions prompt him to enter the Heroic Martial Arts Tournament organised in honor of the hero who defeated the Demon King. The game features both turn-based and real time gameplay, with a story campaign and competitive multiplayer mode.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly become obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as more as gameplay. Now, I am, writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
