Cassette Beasts Multiplayer Update Announced

Publisher Raw Fury and developer Bytten Studio made multiple announcements for Cassette Beasts, the monster-battling RPG released last year. Chief among the reveals is a new online multiplayer update. The update will release for PC, Linux, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on May 20, 2024. It will let up to eight players party together and explore the game’s world, including a “Play With Friends” mode where players can use an invite code to match up with friends.

The multiplayer update will allow PvP battles, including assigning custom rules such as enabling or disabling sticker attributes, as well as allowing two players to partner up for co-op raids against Rogue Fusions and trade tapes with each other. The multiplayer will be cross-play compatible with all current platforms. A beta of the multiplayer is available now on Steam, instructions on how to access the beta can be found here.

In addition, the companies revealed both a mobile launch — no release window was announced — and a collaboration with Moonstone Island. The collaboration will begin May 20, 2024, and includes Moonstone Island-themed costumes for Cassette Beasts, as well as a Cassette Beasts’s Pombomb being added to Moonstone Island’s Spirit roster.

Cassette Beasts takes players to New Wirral, a remote island filled with monsters of all shapes and sizes. The residents have learned to fight back by recording the monsters on cassettes and playing the tapes back to use them in battle. The game features turn-based combat, with an open-world where players travel around with a companion, and two-player local co-op.
