New Release Round-Up (September 21, 2023)

Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.


Gloomhaven

Gloomhaven is a tactical RPG adaptation of the popular tabletop game of the same name. It includes a version of the game’s campaign mode as well as an additional Guildmaster Mode that allows players to mix and match options between scenarios. Lies of P

Inspired by Carlo Collodi’s Pinocchio novel, action RPG Lies of P is set in a dark world based on the Belle Époque of western Europe (around 1880-1914 CE). The game sees players controlling Pinocchio as he tries to save the city of Krat from an army of puppets. Those looking to read more about Lies of P can check out Pascal Tekaia’s very positive review of its PlayStation 5 version.


Mon-Yu

Dungeon-crawling RPG Mon-Yu — fully titled Mon-Yu: Defeat Monsters and Gain Strong Weapons and Armor. You May Be Defeated, but Don’t Give Up. Become Stronger. I Believe There Will Be a Day When the Heroes Defeat the Devil King — features first-person exploration and turn-based combat. Players create their party with which to defeat the seven Devil Kings. The game is developed by the same team behind Undernauts: Labyrinth of Yomi and features character designs by Mota and monster designs by Akifumi Yamamoto.


Moonstone Island

Moonstone Island is a creature-collecting life-sim set on an open world with over 100 islands. Following their village’s tradition, players move to one of the islands floating in the sky to complete their Alchemy training. With the spiritual allies, potions, and new friends, players explore temples, dungeons, and biomes while looking to uncover the secret of Moonstone Island.


Ruins Magus

Platform: PlayStation VR2 (previously released on PC)

VR action RPG Ruins Magus puts players in control of a rookie ruin hunter who, with the help of their novice researcher companion Iris, must investigate the ruins beneath the town of Grand Amnis. The ruins are protected by fearsome Guardians, who must be overcome to discover the secrets of the ruins themselves. The PlayStation VR2 version of the game features HMD rumble and enhanced 3D audio, as well as previously-released updates and DLC including recently-added English voiceovers.


The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails

Price: $39.99

The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails is an action RPG spin-off to the Legend of Heroes series. The game features a standalone story set around Remnant Island on a world known as Lost Heaven. Sometime in the past, the world suffered an event known as the Great Flood, leaving just the collection of islands surrounded by the Sciencia Sea.
