Final Fantasy XVI PC Version, DLC in Development

Square Enix revealed that both a PC version and two pieces of paid DLC for Final Fantasy XVI are currently in development. The news come via a video message from the game’s producer Naoki Yoshida shared during the “Voices From Valisthea” panel at this weekend’s PAX West event. The DLC will let players spend further time in Valisthea with its inhabitants. Details about the DLC and PC release are planned to be revealed before the end of the year.

The message also announced a free patch for the game, which is available now. The update adds new outfits for Clive, Jill, Torgal, and others, as well as a new weapon skin feature for Clive and a variety of gameplay adjustments. The full patch notes are available here.

The latest mainline entry in the long-running series, Final Fantasy XVI is more heavily action-focused and released for PlayStation 5 in June 2023. It is set in the high fantasy land of Valisthea, which is dotted with Mothercrystals, towering structures that spread aether. People have built up around the crystals, using the aether for magic and to help them live in comfort. Valisthea is home to incredibly powerful beings called Eikons, Final Fantasy XVI’s variant on the series’s summons, with protagonist Clive Rosfield becoming involved with the dark Eikon Ifrit.
